Brookdale Johnny Looks For More At Summerside

The Tuesday evening feature will be hotly contested at Red Shores at the Summerside Raceway.

The Prince County oval has a 14-dash presentation beginning at 6 p.m., with the $3,300 featured pace lining up in race 13.

Brookdale Johnny is the top choice from post five for driver Paul Langille, trainer Phil Sizer and owners Doug Polley Sr., and Doug Polley Jr., of Amherst, N.S. The four-year-old gelding is sired by the Polley family's own millionaire pacer Rockin In Heaven. Brookdale Johnny was a winner last week at this level in a mild 7-1 upset.

Woodmere Ideal Art (Jason Hughes) will command respect from post two from the Sifroi Melanson stable. The 42-time winner has notched three wins on the season with his latest coming in the top class at Inverness Raceway in Nova Scotia on Sept. 1.

Also in the tight-knit featured field are Coasttocoastshark (Brady Sweet), Howmac Charmer (David Dowling) and Sauble Attack (Ken Murphy).

The Backstretch Beat picks Brookdale Johnny to notch another win: “Brookdale Johnny sat last and circled last week and with a shorter field he won’t have near as far to come to do it again. The Sizer stable has been hot in partnership with the Polley family and we see the winning continuing tonight.”

Race five is the Lester Chappell Memorial in honour of a longtime stalwart of the Summerside Raceway. Midnight Mood (Myles Heffernan Sr.) is favoured from post four for owner/trainer Allan Gregory of Charlottetown.

Races eight and 12 are Fox Group Racing events with enhanced purses for those overnight classes.

The $2,600 race 14 finale has Starshipzodiac (Dowling) as the top selection from post two for co-owner and trainer Reece Williams and co-owner Robert Williams of Poplar Grove, P.E.I. His main foes are listed as Century Invictus (Heffernan) and Dressel Hanover (Damian MacLellan).

The program also has a non-wagering P.E.I. Matinee Racing Championship Final event after race two as the culmination of the season across the Island’s five matinee racetracks. The Matinee Final includes La Vie En Belle (Carly Sweet), Paints Pride (Keith MacDonnell), One Lucky Rose (Philip Desroches) and Murray Cane (Zac Noye).
