Veteran horseman David Hudon celebrated his 2,000th driving win aboard Millbanks Ariel in the seventh race on Friday night at Fraser Downs.

Hudon worked out a perfect pocket trip aboard Darren Lupul's four-year-old Usher Hanover mare in the $15,000 claiming-conditioning event and got up to score in the final strides in 1:55.1 over pacesetter Zeballos and Allan Molloy. The victory was Hudon's 30th this year.

The 48-year-old resident of Surrey, B.C., known as "Mr. Fraser Downs", has earned over $10 million in purses throughout his driving career. He has also trained 1,187 winners with his starters earning over $6.5 million in purses.

Earlier on the card, Village Janus and trainer-driver Rod Therres held on to win the featured $12,500 Fillies & Mares Open Pace in 1:53.3 by a neck over pocket-sitters Jans Rich Girl and Scott Knight. Just Fiction and Jim Marino rounded out the top three finishers. Therres co-owns the four-year-old Modern Art mare with Vancouver's Veikko Pajunen.
