Trainer-driver Lyle MacArthur worked out a perfect pocket trip aboard Emmylou Who to grab the $130,000 Ontario Sires Stakes Gold Series final for three-year-old trotting fillies on Thursday night at Rideau

Carleton Raceway.

Both elimination winners, Wilsonator (Scott Zeron) and Emmylou Who, were positioned in the top two spots off the gate. Wilsonator fired to command from the rail with Emmylou Who tucking into the pocket from Post 4 during a :27-second opening quarter.

As the field moved in front of the grandstand for the first time, a parked out Cross Of Lorraine (Carl Jamieson) looked to challenge the leader but failed to gain ground and ducked down at the rail in fourth past the :55.4 half.

As Wilsonator hit the third quarter mark in 1:25.3, MacArthur pulled the pocket and sent his mount up to take command around the final turn. Emmylou Who left her rivals in the dust as she sprinted away to win by seven and a quarter lengths in 1:56.3. Wilsonator finished second and Random Destiny (Riina Rekila) came on for third.

Emmylou Who paid $4.20 to win as the bettor’s choice. The Ken Warkentin-Emerald Seelster filly, who won her eliminaton by open lengths over a sloppy track last week, has put together a record of 4-5-2 in 14 starts this season to earn nearly $375,000 for Ontario owners Linda Wellwood, Tammy Aspden, Anne Shunock and Diane Ingham. The lion’s share of the purse pushed her total bankroll over the $500,000 mark.

Three-year-old trotting fillies will head to Windsor Raceway next for their final Gold Series event of the season before the Super Finals. Eliminations at Windsor take place on October 27 with the final set for November 3.

With a total of 225 points earned through the first four Gold events, Emmylou Who currently sits atop the division standings and has locked up her spot in the $300,000 Super Final at Woodbine Racetrack on November 13.

In regular racing action, Rideau's leading trainer Jamie Copley teamed up with driver Stephen Gendron to score a perfect three wins in three starts on the 15-race card with Edmund Hanover ($8.60), Carribean Coral ($4.60) and Armbro Acme ($3.90). The Kenmore, ON resident is in the midst of a career-best season with 131 wins and $721,065 in purse earnings on his card.
