Three NYSS Late Closers For Schnittker

The New York Sire Stakes season at Batavia Downs came to a close last night with four late-closing divisions for freshman trotting colts and geldings. Trainer/driver Ray Schnittker was on point on the night, as he won three of the four $13,000 dashes.

Driver Brian Cross guided Nowerland Coldcash (Cash Hall--El Paso Gal) to a victory for owner-trainer Jody Weidman in the first of the late-closing dashes, which was a non-wagering event. The final win time of 2:01.4 went down as a new lifetime mark.

From that point on it was all Schnittker.

Thor Blue Chip (Credit Winner--Armonica Hanover) got the Schnittker barn on the board, as he cruised to a much-the-best six and a half-length win in 2:04 for Thor Stables in what was another non-wagering event.

Schnittker won the fastest of the divisions with the gelded All In Tad (Conway Hall--Trapezius), who stopped the clock in 2:01.

Hellogottagobuhbye (Dream Vacation--Tys Triumph) went from fifth to first in his split to give the Schnittker barn the hat trick. The time of the mile was 2:04.1.

The 2010 stakes season at America’s oldest lighted harness track will conclude on October 16. The annual Robert J. Kane Memorial Pace -- which was won last year by Foiled Again -- will be the highlight of the card.

Kevin Cummings also had a hot hand on Tuesday night, as he steered four winners. The 40–year-old reinsman is approaching 3,000 lifetime wins.

Ken Holliday went winless and remains at 4,998 in his quest for 5,000 wins.

Batavia Downs Casino is currently racing on Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday nights. First-race post time is 6:40 p.m. There is one matinee left during the summer-fall meet. The matinee will take place on Columbus Day, October 11, with a 1:15 p.m. first post.
