Priceless Edition became the fastest performer in the history of Clinton Raceway thanks to an eye-catching clocking of 1:53 in Sunday’s $20,000 Ray McLean Memorial

.

The performance erased Arts Ragin Jet’s track standard of 1:54.4 for older pacing geldings, and it bettered the overall track record of 1:54.1 set by the older pacing horse – Judge Cam.

Priceless Edition, in rein to Scott Zeron, tucked into an early three hole while Button Up (Mike Horner) threw down a :27.3 opening quarter. Zeron was on the move with Priceless Edition in the second quarter, and he took over command shortly past the :56.1 opening half.

Priceless Edition led by 5-3/4 lengths at the three-quarter station in 1:24.3 before using a :28.2 final frame to win by 4-1/4 lengths in 1:53. Secret Weapon (Doug McNair) was second under the line, and Acceptable Risk (Trevor Henry) rounded out the top three finishers. Race favourite Monster In Law (Jody Jamieson) made an early break and finished last in the seven-horse tilt.

Allard shares ownership on the son of Real Desire with John Nother of Brampton and John Holmes of Puslinch, ON. The six-year-old, who was sent off at odds of 9-2, won for the seventh time in 23 starts this season. The 34-time winner has now banked $468,302 in lifetime earnings.

A set of $10,000 Preferred-2 events – one for pacers and one for trotters – also went postward as part of Clinton’s final day of racing for the 2010 season.

Live For Today past his pacing peers and secured a half-length triumph for Trevor Henry in 1:58.1. The George McClure-trained son of Fit For Life defeated Cammisrazmataz and Whims N Wishes.

Big Changes followed cover before catapulting past the leaders to win the Preferred-2 Trot for trainer/driver Greg Dustin. The son of Via Blaze drew off to win by five lengths in a time of 2:00.2 over Southwind Califon and Nobananas.

The closing day program also featured the 29th annual Charity Drivers’ Challenge, and for the second consecutive season the title went to Mark MacDonald.

Each of the drivers in the event donated their earnings to the Central Huron Secondary School’s Challenge Day. More than $8,000 was raised over the course of the afternoon.
