Vintage Master, winner of $1.1 million, drew post four in the second elimination and has been installed as the 8-5 morning line favorite

for the 64th edition of the Little Brown Jug on Thursday, September 24 at the Delaware County Fair.

Vintage Master won the $350,000 Cane Pace at Freehold Raceway on Labor Day and has a career mark of 1:49.2. Jimmy Takter trains the son of Western Ideal for George Segal’s Brittany Farms and the Brian P. Monieson Trust. Daniel Dube is programmed to drive Vintage Master.

“We got a good seat. We are lucky we did not get the eight hole,” commented Takter. “I like my horse. He is extremely good now.”

Takter and Segal are both looking for their second Jug victory. Takter conditioned the 2006 champ, Mr Feelgood, and Segal owned Life Sign, the 1993 winner.

Well Said, winner of $2.3 million, was named the 5-2 second choice in the same elimination after he drew the outside post 8.

Well Said won the $1.5 million North America Cup and the $1 million Meadowlands Pace and is owned by Jeffrey Snyder and Susan Grange’s Lothlorien Equine Center. The sophomore son of Western Hanover is trained by Steve Elliott and will be driven by Hall of Famer Ron Pierce.

The first $97,464 elimination will be headed by Mr Wiggles and If I Can Dream. Mr Wiggles owns a mark of 1:49.2 and has career earnings of over $800,000. The colt is owned by Elmer Fannin and trainer George Teague, Jr.

“Mr Wiggles has always raced good on a half-mile track,” noted Teague. “We’ll have to get a good position early. You can’t win the Jug from off the pace.”

If I Can Dream is the 7-2 second choice in the first elimination. The Western Hanover colt is trained by Tracy Brainard for the Bulletproof Enterprises. If I Can Dream has earned over $1 million for his career.

The top four finishers in the two eliminations will qualify for the $292,392 Little Brown Jug Final.
