Undefeated two-year-old pacing colt Every Way Out cruised wire-to-wire in the $62,000 Lou Babic Memorial while Designated Drinker also dominated her foes in the $57,000 companion filly event on Saturday (September 17) at Freehold Raceway.
The Babic fields consisted of two-year-olds all sired by If I Can Dream.
In the non-wagering colt division, Every Way Out went unchallenged on the lead through fractions of :29.1, :59.3 and 1:28.1, and kicked home in :28.2 to remain clear of the Gregg McNair-trained pocket-sitter Deo Galileo at the wire in 1:56.3. Tim Tetrick drove the Dylan Davis trainee, who now boasts seven straight stakes wins, for owners Howard Taylor, Abraham Basen, Edwin Gold and Thomas Lazzaro. Firefox Hanover finished eight and a half lengths behind in third.
Designated Drinker made the lead past the :29.2 first quarter in the filly division, and after back-to-back 30-second panels, she drew off by five and a half lengths to stop the clock in 1:58.2. Chris Lems trains and owns the winning filly, who is now two-for-four in her career, while Jeff Gregory handled the driving duties. Misqued won the race for place over Maiden Dream.
