Two-year-old pacer Need You So Bad continued his undefeated win streak in the second leg of the Robert Millbank B.C. Breeders Stakes, which opened Saturday night's harness racing card at Fraser Downs.
With Jim Marino catch-driving for trainer Bill Davis, the popular American Ideal-Sendingforth gelding swept to command at the :29.1 quarter pole and carved out middle fractions of :58.2 and 1:27.4 en route to a 1:57.1 four and three-quarter length triumph. Lisplaced (Serge Masses) came from last to place over pocket-sitter Kootenay Harper (David Hudon).
Need You So Bad now boasts wins in his first five pari-mutuel starts for owner J J J Stables of Aldergrove, B.C. The lion's share of the $7,500 purse lifted his earnings to $20,233.
Need You So Bad paid $2.50 to win as the overwhelming 1-5 favourite. His entrymate, Decisions Matter, was scratched sick from the race.
The two-year-old pacing colts and geldings will face off in their third elimination leg of the B.C. Breeders Stakes on Sunday, October 27, followed by the fourth leg on Sunday, November 3. All four divisional B.C. Breeders Stakes finals will be held on Monday, November 11.
