It has been reported that American Harness Tracks, the group which is looking to make the Valley View Downs racino project in Pennsylvania become a reality, has stated that it has successfully secured the $150 million in funding it was required to raise by September 12
.
According to an article by the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review, on September 12, officials with American Harness Tracks spoke by telephone with Lawrence County Commissioners, which included pro-racino commissioner Dan Vogler, who was quoted as simply saying that, "It was encouraging."
The report states that the representatives from American Harness Tracks told the Lawrence County Commissioners that they have presented their financing package to the state's harness racing regulators, whom are expected to next meet on September 29.
The Pittsburgh Tribune-Review article has also quoted Pennsylvania Agriculture Department Spokeswoman Samantha Krepps as saying that there is currently no firm timetable for a decision in regard to the situation.
"The commission has to analyze the documents to make sure they are in compliance with the commission's order," Krepps was quoted as saying. "At this point, we do not know if there will be an announcement made at the (September 29) meeting."
