A stakes-filled program of racing was highlighted with the $12,272 Silk Lace final for three-year-old pacing fillies and $11,892 Golden Boy final for the colts and geldings Saturday at Miami Fair

Heartland Icicle completed a series sweep of the Silk Lace Stake with a 2:04.4 victory in the final for trainer/driver Philip Giesbrecht and owners Al Car Farms and Carole Drader of Brookdale, MB. The Solid Ice-Hah filly left from Post 5 and carved out all the fractions en route to a two and three-quarter length win over Bubbles Promise (Greg Manning) and Great Gates (Rey Roland).
For Heartland Icicle, the win was her seventh of the season in 10 starts lifting her earnings to $18,706. The eight-time winner has earned $21,553 to date.
Cool Thing, a second leg winner of the Golden Boy Stake, returned to victory lane in the final after rallying from third past the half and kicking away by two and three-quarter lengths to win in 2:05.4 over a track rated good. Cool Thing’s stablemate, P Js Abba (George Isman), was the runner-up with Spin Your Spell (Darryl Mason) rounding out the top three.
Unraced at two, the Gates Brown-Little Wild Thing colt has won half of his eight starts lifting his earnings to $12,185 for trainer/driver Rey Roland, who also shares ownership with Allen Brydon of Neepawa, MB.
Rey also guided the Don Anness-trained Aces Attitude to victory in the $4,400 Juvenile Stake for two-year-old pacers. Owned by Don and Sheila Anness of Emo, Ont., the homebred Firm Friend-Beautiful Balance gelding, who won his Kindergarten Stake division last week at Holland Fair, stopped the clock in 2:06.2. Keep Your Secrets (Richard Remillard) finished a length behind and Aces Attitude’s stablemate, Joy For Jim (Darryl Mason), finished third. The winner of two races in five starts now has $4,158 earned.
The MHHI $3,500 Claiming Series final was also contested on Saturday with Dynes At The Beach prevailing in 2:04.1 for trainer/driver Kevin Sampson and owner Joe Soloninko of Wroxton, Sask. before being claimed by Perry Trost of Yorkton, Sask. Off The Matt (Philip Giesbrecht) finished two and a half lengths behind in second and Jomarsadusty (Ron Cullen) was third.
The five-year-old gelded son of Northern Dynasty-Rehoboth Beach won for the seventh time in 27 starts this year and 11th time in his career. The lion’s share of the $2,800 purse lifted Dynes At The Beach’s bankroll to $46,689.
