The name ‘Armbro Affair’ has re-emerged in the North American harness racing scene in the last few years due to the success of her three-year-old daughter, Only Take Cash, in Ohio. On Tuesday (Aug. 27) at Woodbine Mohawk Park, another of Armbro Affair’s offspring was strutting his stuff.
The Armbro Affair offspring in question, Fit Bitt, was in qualifying action Tuesday morning at Mohawk. The freshman son of Muscle Mass partook in the nine-race session which featured a ‘good’ track that was assessed a one-second variant.
Fit Bitt stepped onto the track for Race 6 and lined up in Post 3 for driver Sylvain Filion and trainer Robert McIntosh.
The gelding left out for the lead and was first down to the :30.2 quarter pole. From there, Fit Bitt allowed Los Ballykeelamigo (who was driven by Bob McClure) to assume control of the engine and cut the middle splits in 1:01.2 and 1:31.
Los Ballykeelamigo still held the lead into the lane, but Fit Bitt came on late for Filion, as the duo got up to record a half-length victory in 2:01.3.
Fit Bitt is a homebred of Robert McIntosh Stables Inc. (of Windsor, Ont.) and C S X Stables (Liberty Center, Ohio). The bay has made three pari-mutuel starts thus far in his career, all of which have came at the grassroots level of the Ontario Sires Stakes. Two of those starts resulted in wins, as Fit Bitt has tallied OSS scores at Kawartha Downs and most recently at Mohawk.
