Pridecrest Scores At Running Aces

Running Aces’ featured dash on Sunday (Aug. 26) was a $20,000 Minnesota-Sired or Owned Preferred/Open Trot that housed a field of eight.

Pridecrest, who was the talk of the tote board, did not disappoint his backers, as he turned in a gutsy performance.

The six-year-old son of Angus Hall floated away from his assigned outside post with early speed, but there were several others who wanted the front. Whatevershesgot (who was driven by Tim Maier) had the early lead, but Tamarind (Ryan Anderson) quickly swept by, and was immediately confronted by Silverlode (Lemoyne Svendsen) who took a short stint on the front before Pridecrest made his way to the leading position near the half mile marker.

After establishing command, Pridecrest (Steve Wiseman) settled in, took full control, and was never in doubt. He drew away in the final stages to post a four and three-quarter-length tally in 1:54.3. Pridecrest ($3.20) is owned by Christopher Schick and trained by Kathleen Plested.

The $9,000 three-year-old Open Trot was won by SB Fine And Dandy in 1:58.1. MR Ranger won a $6,600 conditioned pace in 1:51.4. Prodigal turned in a career-best victory in the $9,000 upper-condition level pace in 1:51.2.

Live racing at Running Aces will continue three nights per week, with post times at 7:00 p.m. (CDT) on Tuesdays, and 6:00 p.m. (CDT) on Saturdays and Sundays.

The track’s 20-cent Pick-5 Jackpot carryover is currently $26,012.29.
