As part of Clinton Raceway's Legends Day -- a biennial fundraiser for the Clinton Public Hospital Foundation -- an online auction will be held the week prior to the event.
Bidding for the auction will open on Monday, August 31 and the web address will be available by visiting clintonraceway.com. Bidding will remain open through Friday, September 4 and items can be picked up at the on-track event Sunday, September 6.
Some featured items include a condo in Collingwood, Toronto Blue Jays package that includes tickets and a jersey, three-night stay with dinner at the River Rock Casino and Resort in Vancouver, Edge of Walton Adventure Course climbing party for 10 with appetizers and beverages, and much more.
The event will also include a Pineridge Chicken BBQ for $20 and, thanks to generous donors, the entire ticket money will go to the Clinton Public Hospital Foundation.
“This is an event that everyone can get behind; we’ve all used our community hospital at one time, or will in the future,” said Jessica Carnochan, Marketing Manager for Clinton Raceway. “It’s a great way to be involved and ensure that our hospital remains right here in Clinton.”
The day will focus on legendary Hall of Fame drivers, and the statistics are staggering. Combined, John Campbell, Ray Remmen, Bill O’Donnell, Mike Lachance, Doug Brown, Ron Waples, Dave Wall and Steve Condren have nearly $1 billion in earnings and almost 60,000 harness racing victories. These eight, along with three retired drivers, Keith Waples, Bill Gale and Bud Fritz, will all be a part of this community event.
Fans will be able to purchase $2 Legends t-shirts, the young can enjoy face painting and a bouncer, and all will enjoy the live racing and chicken BBQ.
Anyone wishing to donate to the online auction is encouraged to contact the Clinton Raceway office by calling 519-482-5270. More information on the bidding process is available by visiting clintonraceway.com.
