Chinnys Wings has been virtually unstoppable this season for trainer/driver Doug Bowins, who watched his star student trot to his eighth consecutive victory at Flamboro Downs

on Sunday evening.

It was the fifteenth win of the season in 20 trips to the starting gate for the four-year-old son of Armbro Ricochet-I Quiver Not, who was unraced in his rookie and sophomore seasons.

Chinnys Wings, who took a 1:56.2 record at Flamboro Downs on the Confederation Cup day program on August 16, returned to Canada’s fastest half-mile oval on Sunday night and the end result was a 1:57 score in a $12,100 conditioned event.

Bowins got away seventh from his second-tier starting spot, but he had his star student up to fourth on the outside at the mid-way point of the mile. He improved to be second on the rim as the field zipped by the three-quarter pole, and his :29.2 closing speed was enough to propel him to a three and a half-length decision over Apeachtoremember. Indys Kylee rounded out the top three.

Bowins shares ownership on the photogenic performer with Donald Brinkman of East Coulee, AB. The gelding has stashed away more than $82,000 in his first season of racing. His 15 wins is just two wins shy of the North American leader Lucky Jim, who has 17 wins to his credit in 2009.
