This week's Rewind takes on the format of the familiar "Picture Parade." Again a central theme is apparent but with a slight variation. All of the old photos are of drivers; some pictured singly while others are in a group setting.
Two different themes are featured, with five old photos listed under each heading. The two categories chosen today will be groups of drivers and single photographs of individual drivers. The rules remain unchanged; you make your picks, jot down the numbers and send them in. Good Luck!
#1 - This group of eight drivers contains a lot of familiar faces. Let us know who you think they are.
#2 - A group of seven. Maybe you can be "lucky" and identify them all.
#3 - This one may have been a bit of an impromptu gathering as a couple of the fellows are not in their driving suits. They were all drivers. Who are they?
#4 - Just six in this oldie and only one has no red in his driving colours. Can you name them all?
#5 - Another group of 6 and most of these "boys" are still with us. Let us know who they are.
#6 - Let us know who this chap is.
#7 - Can you identify this fellow?
#8 - This gentleman is undoubtedly the most "senior" of today's offering. Who is he?
#9 - Quite a few dots on this fellow's uniform. Can you name him? I do believe he is still around.
#10 - This gentleman has been in the news lately thanks to a recent honour. Can you name him?
Bonus Photo
Do you recognize this well-known gentleman? One further question. While he is best remembered for his expertise in other areas of the sport, did he ever drive competitively in races? Yes or No are the possible answers.

Blast From The Past
Here is a familiar scene from the yesteryears of harness racing at a small town track when the stands were packed to the brim. This old photo was taken at the Rodney, Ont. track, located not too far west from London. Imagine almost every man in the crowd was wearing a suit and tie and many of the ladies were also wearing hats for the occasion. I can almost smell the cigar smoke courtesy of the gentleman in about the second row. (Courtesy of Elgin County archives)

Picture #8
Picture #8 is Bill Herbert. I even know the horse that he is holding. His name was Tory Herbert, a Roan full brother to Terry Herbert, who was owned by Jack Darling. I remember when this picture was taken, I was a groom for Bill and Jack at the time. Late 70's...

Bonus Photo - That gentleman was Jack McNiven of Killean Farms fame. Yes was the correct answer as he did drive a horse named Frisco Killean back around the early 1960's. Jack reported to me that he was very relaxed in the sulky and enjoyed that part of the sport albeit a rather short stint. He also reported that his brother and business partner Don was not quite as enthralled with the idea and alternate plans were made.
Thanks for your interest ,always appreciated. This week's Picture Parade may have set a new unofficial record by requiring 41 correct answers! Kudos to James Milne for recalling that Jack McNiven had done a bit of driving.
Bonus picture
I remember Jack driving In 1965 or 1966 with an asterisk beside his name. I think this was for a provisional driver . I don’t remember him getting a full license. The Killean stock sure came a long way from those days .
