'General' Stays Perfect At Red Shores

Fern Hill General took on all comers and repelled them as he continued his perfect season with a 1:56.2 win in his $15,760 Atlantic Sires Stakes 'A' division for two-year-old pacing colts and geldings on Wednesday evening (Aug. 18) at Red Shores Racetrack and Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park.

Brodie MacPhee guided Fern Hill General, a son of Malicious trained by Earl Smith, to his fifth win in as many starts for owners Peter Smith and Gerald Morrissey, a front-end triumph over St Charlesfireball (Marc Campbell) and Soul Assassin (David Dowling).

Fern Hill Gusto and trainer-driver Marc Campbell prevailed in the other 'A' split, scoring in 1:57.1 for Grayland Farm. Check Your Source (Mike McGuigan) rallied for second while Rollwithhottytoddy (Gilles Barrieau) was third.

MacPhee and Smith also teamed up in a $3,000 'B' division, winning with J J Xavier in 1:58.3. The other 'B' divisions went to J J Maximus (Mark Bradley) in 1:59.3 and Howmac Maximus (Barrieau) in 1:58.4.
