There is one Trial remaining for the Gold Cup and Saucer, but Saint John-based horseman Gilles Barrieau has been dominant at this stage

. Barrieau won his second Trial in as many days, scoring Sunday with Along Came Polly at the Charlottetown Driving Park.

The five-year-old son of Camluck sizzled over the oval with a mile in 1:51.3, defeating Pacific Oak by just over a length. P H Tornado was a distant third, but it earned him a spot in Saturday's 50th edition of the prestigious race.

On Saturday evening at the CDP, Barrieau was victorious in Trial One with 2007 Gold Cup and Saucer champion, Silent Swing. Co-owner, David Shea of Campbellville, ON has interests in each of the Trial winners. He co-owns Silent Swing with Reg Petitpas of Shediac Bridge, NB.

Also Sunday in Charlottetown, Abby Best won a division of the Spud Island Classic - a late closer series for aged mares. The eight-year-old daughter of Cambest won by four lengths in 1:56 for driver Clare MacDonald.

Abby Best had scored in a division of the Erwin Andrew Memorial Series the previous week in Woodstock, NB. She finished a game second in the Robert McCain Memorial Pace to wrap up Old Home Week racing at Connell Park.
