Woodmere Bolt extended his career win streak to five with a 2:00.1 victory in the first of two $13,680 Atlantic Sires Stakes (ATSS) A divisions for two-year-old colt and gelding pacers at Charlottetown Driving Park on Wednesday, Aug. 15.

The Earl Smith trained-and-driven gelding by Malicious took the top heading to a :29.2 opening quarter. Itssammyfrommiami, from third, moved first over approaching the half to apply minor pressure to the pacesetter through a 1:00.4 clip. He stalled first over as Woodmere Bolt continued to three-quarters with a length-and-a-half advantage in 1:31.2 while Notorious, from second over, tipped three wide. Woodmere Bolt kicked to a four-and-a-half length lead at the wire over Notorious taking second and Howmac Finale, riding the rail, finishing a close third.

Owned by Peter Smith, Gerald Morrissey and Arnold Hagan, Woodmere Bolt, from the Rocknroll Hanover mare For All We Know, has earned $20,071. He paid $3.30 to win.

The other ATSS A division went to Red Dirt Boomer in 1:57.3 off a pocket trip as the 3-2 public choice. The Gilles Barrieau trained-and-driven son of Malicious sat behind Red Dirt Rocknroll as he posted splits of :28.2 and :58.1 under no pressure on the front. Dusty Lane Cortez, tipping first over at the half, approached the leader through a 1:28.1 third-quarter before hanging in the stretch. Red Dirt Boomer vacated the pocket in the lane and stuck a half length in front of Red Dirt Rocknroll at the wire while Bobjohnski, from third over, closed for third.

Owned by Daniel Ross, Red Dirt Boomer, out of the Articulator mare Independent Gal, won his second race in four starts, collecting $14,235 in earnings. He returned $5.00 to win.

Alongside the A divisions, two $2,500 groupings of ATSS B divisions went on the undercard with Mall Peen Hammer brushing and crushing to a nine-and-three-quarter length victory in the first split.

Positioned fifth at the half, Mall Peen Hammer sat seven-and-a-half lengths off leader Feelin Haggard by the quarter in :29.4. Driver Kenny Arsenault gave the cue to the Sean Dooley trainee rounding the second turn and cleared control following a 1:01.1 half. Mall Peen Hammer kicked to a two-and-a-quarter length lead heading to three-quarters as Feelin Haggard faltered at the rail, handing second to first-over J J Superman by the 1:30.4 station. Mall Peen Hammer's margin grew through the stretch in progress to a 2:00.1 victory while Better Than Tonys navigated off the rail to take second from J J Superman chasing in third.

Mall Peen Hammer, a colt by Ameripan Gigolo from the Rocknroll Hanover mare Mall Shook Up, competes for owners Dooley Boys Racing Stable and Nikway Farms. Breaking his maiden in his third start career, the $7.50 winner has gathered $1,422 in career earnings.

Pictonian Rush took the other ATSS B division roaring from off the pace to nail pocket-popper Knockout Punch by three-quarter lengths in 2:01.1.

Sitting sixth at the half, Pictonian Rush chased a pace set by Flowersonthebeach, who paced to the quarter in :29.4. Kenny Arsenault moved the colt by Western Paradise off the rail at the half to catch cover from The Westsidegigolo through a 1:00.1 time.

With The Westsidegigolo parking to three-quarters, Pictonian Rush fanned three wide in pursuit of Flowersonthebeach past three-quarters in 1:30.4. Pictonian Rush drew closer into the stretch with Knockout Punch, from the pocket, also moving for the lead but being outfinished at the wire. Lets Get Pickled, riding the rail, took third.

Owned by Boyd MacDonald Prodce Ltd. and Daniel Ross, Pictonian Rush, from the Allamerican Native mare Pictonian Sapphire, won his first race in two starts, earning $1,221. Daniel MacDonald trains the $9.10 winner.
