Mcstraight and driver Chris Page coasted to a comfortable win in 1:51.4 in the $15,000 Open Pace at Scioto Downs.
The win was the sixth in 24 starts this season for the five-year-old gelding, who defeated Chip Of Art and Frog Juice. McStraight is trained by Virgil Morgan, Jr. and owned by Carl Howard and Brian Konen.
Driver Charlie Neff sent Dicks Dandy to the front out of the gate, tripping the timer in :26.4 at the first quarter. Neff then looked to his right and saw a challenge coming from Jeremy Smith and Tug River Clyde. They battled to the half-mile marker in :55. Page had Mcstraight tucked in third during the second quarter, but he was able to get him out to attack the leaders during the third quarter. He caught and headed Dicks Dandy at the three-quarter pole, which was reached in 1:23. From that point, Mcstraight was unchallenged to the wire and his final margin was two and three-quarter lengths.
In the $12,000 Open II Trot, Dan Charlino rallied Hello Carlo on the outside in the stretch to get up to win in 1:56.1 over Quick N Slick and Brother Gus. He paid $45 to win.
Ryan Stahl left alertly with the 19-1 shot Lima Legend and he controlled the tempo of the race for the first three-quarters of mile. Then he was joined by Brother Gus and Quick N Slick. Quick N Slick took command as a tightly-bunched team of trotters marched down the homestretch. In the final yards, Hello Carlo had the most speed and Charlino raised his whip in jubilation as he crossed the wire a half-length ahead of Quick N Slick. The odds-on favourite, Action Broadway, finished last, just behind the second betting choice Southwind Pepino.
