Inverness Raceway has announced it will go to post a half-hour earlier for its 13-dash program on Wednesday, August 12, as the track will be featuring a special visit from O’Brien Award winning driver Paul MacDonell
and four divisions of the Atlantic Sires Stakes.
Race Secretary Donnie MacLellan has set the opening post time at 7:00 p.m. when the first of two $2,500 'B' divisions of the ATSS will head to the gate.
There are two $8,540 'A' divisions on the card. Race 6 is shaping up to be a battle for the divisional lead between two daughters of first-crop sire Coastocoast Yankee.
Charlottes Coast drew the outside post for trainer-driver Darren Crowe, while Seawind Allegra got the rail spot for trainer-driver Danny Romo,
Charlottes Coast leads the point standings with 16, two more than Seawind Allegra.
JJ Solara, another daughter of Coastocoast Yankee, drew into the other division for trainer-driver Clare MacDonald. She’s undefeated in three starts this year, including two wins in the ATSS.
MacLellan has said that MacDonell isn’t programmed to drive on the program, but will spend the evening greeting race fans and signing autographs.
“Paul has a lot of friends and relatives here and we wanted him to have a relaxing visit.” said MacLellan, who is related by marriage to the O’Brien award winner.
