Harness racing action on the Manitoba Fair Circuit shifted to Glenboro this weekend and featured the first Sires Stakes of the season.

Glenboro hosted two $4,017 MSSBA Golden Boy Stakes divisions for three-year-old pacing colts and geldings along with a pair of $4,008 Silk Lace Stakes divisions for the fillies on Saturday.

Brians Chanel ($4.90) kicked off the Golden Boy Stakes with a two and a three-quarter length romp in 2:04.1 for trainer-driver Dean Rey, who also shares ownership of the homebred Prince Brian-Sand Chanel colt with Jennifer Rey of St. Claude, MB. Favourite Tomono and Barry McNaughton finished second and 99-1 longshot P Ts Pleasure, driven by Dallas McGee, was third. The win was Brians Chanel's first in three career starts.

Favourite Winning Order ($2.80) went wire-to-wire to win the other split by four lengths in 2:04.2 with breeder Roland Rey in the sulky for trainer and owner Arthur Rey of St. Claude. Smokeys Pace and Richard Remillard followed in the pocket for second and the Philip Giesbrecht-driven Heartland Firmway, a two-time stakes champion as a freshman, rounded out the top three finishers. The Abbatom-Tranquil Ironstone colt also broke his maiden in his third career start.

Driver Dean Rey teamed up with trainer-owner Arthur Rey for a stakes double as Heart For You ($5.90), who turned back Breesatom and Dean Rey en route to a one length tally in 2:07.1. Trainer-driver Cory Manning co-owns the One Big Buster-Andrea Cole Lynn filly with Deanna Manning of Belmont, MB. Heartlandsugarbabe and Marc Fillion came on for second at odds of 99-1 while 24-1 Kaanapali Princess and McNaughton finished third. Heart For You, who earned a pair of top three finishes in the MSSBA freshman events last year, notched her second career win from 13 starts.

Nine-year-old Cambest gelding Armbro Dublin ($10.80) won the weekend's $2,000 Open Pace on Sunday with a four and a quarter length romp in 1:58.2 for Saskatchewan trainer-driver Blake Piwniuk, who shares ownership with Jerry Hagenaars of Hafford, Sask.
