Chris Ryder certainly has a way with the ladies.
The trainer scored a hat trick of wins with two-year-old filly pacers Wednesday night at the Meadowlands Racetrack
.
His three-race streak started with Lover Of Art, who pounced off a ground-saving journey to win the seventh race, the first of two $58,500 New Jersey Sire Stakes for freshman filly pacers on the card. Driven by Tim Tetrick, Lover Of Art sat third on the rail as China Art carved the fractions (:28.4, :59 and 1:28) and shook loose in the stretch to post a 1 1/2-length victory over the pocket sitter Camsamericangirl in 1:54.3.
Lover Of Art is perfect in two starts. She won her pari-mutuel debut, the $71,662 Debutante Stake, on July 1. Bred and owned by Brittany Farms of Versailles, Kentucky and the Brian P. Monieson Revtrust of Northbrook, Illinois, the filly is from the last crop of the great New Jersey sire Artsplace.
After winning the eighth race with first-time starter Day Lily Hanover, a daughter of Art Major, Ryder completed his sweep with Big Redhead in the second $58,500 New Jersey Sire Stakes division. In her pari-mutuel debut, Big Redhead wired the ninth race field in 1:55.1.
Ryder shares ownership of the Red River Hanover lass with Richard Young of Coconut Creek, Florida and Peter Trebotica of Bordentown, New Jersey.
The New Jersey Sire Stakes for two-year-old filly trotters also got underway Wednesday night at the Meadowlands. Costa Rica, a daughter of Muscles Yankee, trotted a final panel of :27.3 seconds to win the first $34,100 division in 1:59.1 for driver John Campbell and trainer Jimmy Takter. Lindys Two Step, another Muscles Yankee, benefited from a two-hole trip to win the second split in 1:59.2 for Campbell and trainer Linda Toscano. Reve Pride, by Revenue, rallied to a 1:58.3 victory in the final NJSS division for Tim Tetrick and Erv Miller.
Fine Tuner Hits Winning Note In Instrument Landing
Fine Tuner [$4.40, $2.80, $2.40] and driver George Brennan launched a first-over attack and kicked away from the field in the final eighth to take the $38,000 Instrument Landing Series Final for claiming pacers.
Fine Tuner paced the mile in a stakes record 1:50.1 in his first start for trainer Scott Rollins and owner Tim Cohen of Sarasota, Florida, who claimed the pacer out of the second leg of the series on July 1 for $15,000. Delivered From Zin [$3.00, $2.40] nabbed second, while Tempest Anvil [$3.60] finished third after tracking the winner into the stretch.
Fine Tuner, a six-year-old son of Tune Town, improved his career totals to nine wins in 64 starts and $120,000 in earnings.
