High Voltage Deo became Truro Raceway’s fastest pacing gelding ever as he captured the $7,500 Lindsay Construction Cup Invitational on Friday, July 4 in his third straight victory.

He was last of five heading into the first turn for Corey MacPherson with Tony Too Tall (Myles Heffernan Sr.) pushing his way to the top before the quarter in :26.2. Twin B Tuffenuff (Gilles Barrieau) was first off the rail, landing on the engine as the field turned for the stands with High Voltage Deo also commencing a first-over voyage. Twin B Tuffenuff reached the half in :55.3, after which High Voltage Deo opted to tuck into the gapped two-hole as the field turned to the backstretch.

High Voltage Deo rocketed out of the pocket after three-quarters in 1:23.2 and sparred with Twin B Tuffenuff down the stretch, powering clear late to prevail by 1-1/4 lengths in 1:51.2. Bee Two Bee (Jason Hughes) finished third, 4-1/2 lengths back of the winner. The win price was $5.10.

High Voltage Deo is now three-for-five this season for trainer Brendan Curran and owners Alby Curran of Vernon Bridge, P.E.I. and High Voltage Deo Group of Alberry Plains, P.E.I., who took the gelding to the Maritimes last summer. The five-year-old son of Sweet Lou-Electric Fool notched his 14th victory in 61 career starts and upped his bankroll to $134,762.

The 1:51.2 mile set a new standard for an aged pacing gelding, knocking a tick off the times set by Time To Dance in 2021 and Roll Em in 2023.

Rosetown Mary wired her foes in the $5,030 Standardbred Canada Atlantic Aged Mares Pacing Series first leg. The mare emerged from a line of three leavers on the first turn to seize command before the quarter in :27.3. MacPherson rated her to middle panels of :58 and 1:27, and she rebuffed the first-up Sugar Bowl (Barrieau) on the final turn before marching home to a 1-1/4-length score in 1:55.1 over the closing Freaky Fanny (Darren Crowe). Sugar Bowl completed the ticket. The winner paid $3.

Rosetown Mary, one of P.E.I.’s top pacing mares of the past two years, has won three of six outings and hasn’t missed the board in 2025. MacPherson trains the five-year-old, a daughter of Pang Shui-Brodys Leona, for Rosetown Stable of Stratford P.E.I. and Taylor MacPherson of Cornwall, P.E.I.

Bronx Drifter romped in the $2,500 Winners Over Handicap Pace, slingshotting out of the pocket approaching the final turn for Barrieau en route to a 4-3/4-length win in 1:53.3. Like A Glove (Noah Whebby) was second-best, followed by Bettor On Than Off (Ernie Laffin). The win was Bronx Drifter’s first of the year in eight tries and his 13th from 44 career starts. Trevin Shive trains the four-year-old Yankee Cruiser-Pascals Wager gelding for Dr. James Shive of Rines Creek, N.S.
