On Monday (July 31), Dolce Amara broke her maiden in style at Red Mile in the only $80,000 Kentucky Sire Stakes division for freshman trotting fillies.

Leaving from post three in the field of 10, Dolce Amara (Tim Tetrick) was content to settle in rein to her Hall of Fame pilot through fractions of :27.3 and :55:3 in fifth behind leader Tactical Strike for the first half-mile of the contest. Tactical Strike broke stride after an adventurous beginning and Dolce Amara was still on the approach from fifth on the outside. Around the final turn, Dolce Amara sealed the deal en route to a three-quarter length victory in 1:54.1. Honorable Way (Todd McCarthy) was outfinished to place and Prominence (David Miller) finished third.

Competing as a homebred for Kjell Anderson, the daughter of Muscle Hill-Ciao Dolce rewarded her connections with a payoff of $8.44 for a win wager. Lucas Wallin harnessed the granddaughter of champion Pizza Dolce on a sun-splashed afternoon in Kentucky.

Dolce Amara is the second foal produced by Ciao Dolce, who earned $175,553 on the racetrack. Her older full sister, Bella Ciao, sold for $300,000 at the 2020 Lexington Selected Yearling Sale.

Bonn and French Champagne led the way in each division of the $30,000 second round of the Kentucky Commonwealth Series for two-year-old trotting fillies.

In the first division, Bonn (Peter Wrenn) had enough in the tank to outlast favoured One World. Trained by Melanie Wrenn, the filly is owned by David McDuffee and L&L Devisser LLC. The daughter of Tactical Landing-Angelina Chip stopped the clock in 1:55.2 as the third choice and paid $8.70 to win her second start in her second attempt. One World (Tetrick) finished second and Local Honey (A. McCarthy) rounded out the triactor.

French Champagne (Muscle Hill-French Cafe) outduelled a game Epoch to capture the $30,000 second round division of Commonwealth events in 1:54.4. Epoch (Tetrick) tasted defeat after a :26.3 last quarter-mile. Favoured Fanny Lipkowitz (Dunn) took the show spot. Trained and driven by Ake Svanstedt for owners/breeders Marvin Katz and Al Libfeld, the granddaughter of 2008 Hambletonian Oaks victress Creamy Mimi is by Muscle Hill. She paid $20.40 to win

Its My Hill (driver Yannick Gingras, trainer Ron Burke), Embrace The Future (driver/trainer Nicholas Roussel) and The Roxbury (driver D. Miller, trainer Pinske) all captured their respective $15,000 divisions of second round action in the Kentucky Golden Rod Series.

Red Mile races on a Sunday, Monday, Tuesday schedule with a 1 p.m. EDT post time. Free program pages are available at the Red Mile website in addition to race replays.
