Woodbine Mohawk Park hosted the first Ontario Sires Stakes contests for two-year-olds of the year with four $100,000 splits for pacers on Friday, July 3.

Twin B Mayreau and Money Carlo won the divisions for fillies, with the former producing the fastest time of the quartet of Golds. Tyler Jones drove 19-1 Twin B Mayreau to the 1:50.3 victory in the filly's pari-mutuel debut.

The seven-horse field was single file through the first three quarters as Aceandaten (Doug McNair) led Twin B Mayreau through fractions of :27.3, :55.4 and 1:23.1. In mid-stretch, Jones pulled the pocket with Twin B Mayreau, who edged past a game Aceandaten to win by three-quarters of a length. Favoured Twin B Girl Talk (James MacDonald) was third.

Twin B Mayreau, a daughter of Cattlewash-Olivia Mcskywalker, brought $47,000 at the London Classic Yearling Sale from Ecurie CSL of Sorel-Tracy, Que. Francis Dumouchel trains the filly, who was bred by Jenna McNiven of Embro, Ont. The winner returned $40.

Odds-on favourite Money Carlo, driven by Bob McClure, was also victorious in her pari-mutuel debut in the second distaff division in 1:51.3.

McClure raced Money Carlo on the rim through a :27.2 opener and had her on top by three-eighths on the way to a :56 half. Qued Up (McNair) attacked from the pocket nearing three-quarters in 1:24.2 and put a neck in front of Money Carlo as they threw down in the lane. Money Carlo rallied at the pylons, pushing ahead in deep stretch and reaching the line in time to evade the late rally of Waves Of Fortune (James MacDonald) by a neck. Twin B Copacabana (Mark MacDonald) also closed well and took third.

Money Carlo, a daughter of Bulldog Hanover out of Shes Some Treasure, was bred by Steve Jones of Montgomery, N.Y. and was sold for $243,056 at the Lexington Selected Yearling Sale to Brad Grant of Milton, Ont. The Dr. Ian Moore-trained filly now has $50,000 in her bank account. She paid $3.10 to win.

The two divisions for rookie pacing colts and geldings were won by Gogo Gadget and Th Benedict.

Gogo Gadget, the 1-2 favourite in the first male contest, improved to two-for-two in his career with an open-length win.

Wheels Up (Mark MacDonald) led the field through the opening two fractions of :27.1 and :55.3 before making a break as Gogo Gadget took command for Jonathan Drury on the final turn. Gogo Gadget reached the three-quarter pole in 1:23.2 before coming home in :29 to seal the victory by 2-1/2 lengths over Bulldog Xpress (James MacDonald). Calmbeforstorm (J.R. Plante) finished third.

Gogo Gadget won his career pari-mutuel debut impressively in 1:52.3 in an overnight on June 26 at Mohawk and now has $60,000 in earnings. The son of Betting Line out of Jk Getupngo, bred by Jessica Kulcher of Guelph, Ont., is owned by Tamara Vandewiel of Arthur, Ont. He paid $3.10 to win.

Second choice Th Benedict made his pari-mutuel debut a golden one in the second split for colts and geldings. James MacDonald had him fifth through :27.1 and :56 opening fractions, then mobilized him third-over going to three-quarters in 1:25. The colt then swooped wide in the lane and showed :26.3 closing speed to pass three foes in the last eighth of a mile and score in 1:52.2. He eclipsed Stampede (Jody Jamieson) by three-quarters of a length, with The Swooper (McNair) third.

Th Benedict, a son of Cattlewash out of Pasta Blue Chip, is trained by Tony O’Sullivan for owners Clay Horner of Toronto, Ont., Pryde Stables Inc. of North York, Ont. and James Walker of Port Perry, Ont. The $204,225 Harrisburg buy was bred by Tara Hills Stud of Port Perry, Ont. and Glenn Bechtel of Kingston, Ont. Sent off at 9-5, Th Benedict paid $5.80 to win.

Sensationalize A ($3.20) won the $30,000 Pop-Up Series final in 1:49.4 for driver Travis Cullen and trainer Jodie Cullen. She swept the series and is now three-for-four since shipping in from Australia. The series was for pacing fillies and mares who started for a purse of $12,000 or less in their prior four starts or had not averaged $2,000 per start in 2025-2026. Winners over $50,000 this year were ineligible.
