Golden Vanity Pockets Pabos Invitational

A pocket trip worked out to perfection for new track record holder Golden Vanity in the $1,200 Invitational Pace at Pabos Fair in Quebec on Sunday afternoon while pacer Battle Call preferred the front-end for his two wins on the day

Golden Vanity and driver Louis Phillipe Roy followed Pan Larceny (Maxim Gaudreault) through fractions of :29.3, :59.3 and 1:28.2 before stealing the spotlight and posting a three length win in the featured event in 1:57.3, equalling his lifetime mark and setting a new track standard for aged horses. Pan Larceny finished second while E F Mustang (Pierre Luc Roy) finished 28 lengths in arrears to show.

Golden Vanity's mile time replaced Dover Harp's former record of 1:59.4.

The six-year-old son of Omar Khayam-Love Wave is trained and owned by Jean Marc Roy of Mont-Joli, Que. He earned his second win in three starts this year. Golden Vanity has won 27 of his 53 career starts while banking $38,335.

Earlier on the card, Battle Call turned in a pair of winning performances for owner, trainer and driver Louis Phillipe Roy. The four-year-old son of Omar Khayam-Abagoftrixs won the second race in 1:59.1 by 15 lengths and then returned to victory lane after taking the sixth race by 10 lengths in 2:02.1.
