The Ontario Harness Horse Association today sent out a release in regard to the future of racing in Belleville
.
In its release, OHHA states that Kelly McDougald, CEO of Ontario Lottery and Gaming, has indicated that the agreement with the Belleville Agriculture Society is between the BAS and Baymount.
The OLG is not involved in the choosing of partners for the racetrack developments. Baymount has an agreement with the BAS and the OLG is currently waiting for Baymount to raise sufficient capital to commence the project.
The release concludes by stating that the OLG is as anxious to move forward with the project, as are the horsepeople in the Quinte region.

Blah Blah Blah.....we have
Blah Blah Blah.....we have heard it all before! Two months ago our OHHA directors in Belleville did not have an OHHA vote as we do not have a track. So why now is there a big interest. This is just a big joke. THE WEEDS ARE STILL GROWING TALL AT THE NEW TRACK!!!!

This story has a tag line similar to the ever continuing "Days of Our Lives" Soap Opera. Clearly..Baymount has no money and is having trouble (surprise?) raising enough. Neither the City Of Belleville nor the Ag Society is doing anything about the situation except offering excuses and perpetual hope that the project will move ahead. As someone else suggested...it's time to stop reporting on these non events surrounding Quinte racing. Lets face it, could that bunch of amateurs organize a racing card if they can't even build an oval in over 2 years of trying.
