Racing officials declared race seven a 'No Contest' on Wednesday at Red Shores Summerside after an accident occurred as the field was en route to the opening quarter.

Traffic was tight and Acton Overeasy went off stride on the front end. The backfield couldn’t avoid the breaking horse. Driver Philip Doucette, who was aboard Farmers Glory, was shaken up from the mishap. Doucette was transported to the Prince County Hospital to be checked over by the medical team.

No other horse or driver injuries were reported.

Sparky Bayama and driver Mike Stevenson won the Wednesday night feature race in 1:57.2. The Jean Belliveau-owned pacer came first up to tackle stablemate BJ Cruiser, who laid down fractions of :28, :58.4, and 1:27.4 before surging to the front. Rambarononbroadway (Jason Hughes) was second while Blu Meadow Willie (Robert MacInnis) was third.

Casual Motion, with owner-driver Joey Pineau in the bike, recorded their third win a row on the program.

Racing returns Thursday at 7 p.m. to Red Shores Racetrack & Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park featuring the $100,000 Dash for Cash promotion.
