A total of 28 horses are set to do battle in the eliminations for the 9th annual Dream Of Glory Trot at Hanover Raceway on Saturday
.
There will be four divisions of the Dream Of Glory Trot with the top two finishers in each race advancing to the $100,000 on Saturday, July 31. This year’s event has both a local and international flavour.
Paul Walker of Owen Sound, ON trains three entries, and shares ownership on two of them including Carscot Review in Race 2, and Ranchester in Race 8.
Unraced at two, Carscot Review has a record of 1-2-1 in five starts including a win at Hanover in 2:01.2 last Saturday. She will start from the rail in the opening division. Walker also shares ownership on Ranchester, who drew Post 1 in his division, and he trains Madencanadamatters for owners and breeders Doug Millard and Jerry Vanboekel.
Bloomingwood Farms of Harriston, ON own and bred Krakatoa, who drew the next position over from Carscot Review. Walkerton, ON native Greg McNair trains this son of Amigo Hall-Pretty Muscles, who has earned almost $100,000 lifetime in just 18 starts including an Ontario Sires Stakes Grassroots win at Rideau Carleton Raceway on July 11. Randy Fritz is listed to drive.
This year's Dream Of Glory Trot also has an international flavour as Riina Rekila drives Vermo in the first division for trainer Mats Hockman and owners Charlotte Hockman and Chris Blomqvist of Campbellville, ON. Vermo has three wins and almost $27,000 earned in 2010, including a second-place finish in Ontario Sires Stakes Grassroots action at Kawartha Downs on June 26.
In addition, Torgeir Hagmann trains and drives Commander K for part-owner Kjell Anderson of Norway. This son of Ken Warkentin-Knox Trot is still looking for his first win of 2010 but raced in 1:56.3 (second-place) at Mohawk on June 14.
Dream Of Glory Day also includes a barbeque at 6 p.m., carriage rides, live band, and huge fireworks display after the races.
