Two of the top fillies from the Prospect Series in 2023, Distant Lover and Quiet Assurances picked up wins in the two Prospect divisions contested on Saturday, July 20 at Hanover Raceway.

Prospect Leg 3A for three-year-old filly pacers highlighted Saturday's card at Hanover, with a pair of $8,000 divisions as part of the 10-race card.

Distant Lover ($5.00) was a gate-to-wire winner in the first division, winning in 1:57.2. Jason Ryan guided the Nick Gallucci pupil to her first win of the year and fourth lifetime tally, lifting her career earnings to $33,450. All four wins for the Millar Farms homebred have come in Prospect Series action.

Last year, Distant Lover was sent off as the favourite in the Prosect Series final for two-year-old pacing fillies. She was defeated by Quiet Assurances ($4.20), who also prevailed on Saturday in the second Prospect split. Bruce Richardson snuck the daughter of Control The Moment - Unspoken Promise up the pylons late to pick off first-over favourite (Ryan) by a neck for the 1:58.4 score. Rene Dion trains the Howard Taylor & Falcon Racing LLC homebred, now with five wins and $47,942 in her bankroll.

The Lynn Wedow Memorial Trot was captured by three-year-old Charmbo Titan ($3.80), taking a new mark of 2:03.1 after doing all the heavy lifting for driver Tom Smith, trainer Jayne Walker and breeder-owners John Rier of Kitchener and Randy Rier of Hanover, Ont.
