That seems a real possibility in New Jersey after the General Assembly unanimously approved exchange betting
.
The measure now goes to the state Senate’s Wagering, Tourism and Historic Preservation committee, but the Senate and Assembly both quit for the summer after today’s session. Gov. Chris Christie’s office, meanwhile, extended the deadline for the much-anticipated report of the special gaming, racing and sports advisory meeting from yesterday to August 1.
His counsel, Jeffrey Chiesa, gave the impression of a possible link between the two events when he wrote to advisory committee chairman Jon Hanson, telling him that “the emergence of additional matters” had in part triggered the mandated delay. Hanson announced that “Since there are some real-time issues, the committee was delaying the filing of the report.”
The new head of New Jersey’s Casino Association, Mark Juliano, said he did not read the governor’s extension as meaningful.
Betfair has aggressively and skilfully pursued a base in the United States, first buying TVG and using that as a platform for lobbying as an American industry. It also is sponsoring Saturday’s $750,000 United Nations Handicap at Monmouth Park.

WEG specifically will be
WEG specifically will be under siege and once again our once attractive option, to those who wish to place a wager, will be left further behind as antiquated and tired. I will not suggest that our industry needs to agree on every point of discussion...this is an example of one where we do need to collectively move forward together with a concerted effort knowing full well the required changes to the criminal code will take longer than they should...or than we possibly have.
