Dance Step Goes Back-To-Back

Fresh off a victory in the Open Handicap Pace at Glenboro Fair, Dance Step headed to Deloraine, MB on Saturday where he notched another win amongst Open company

.

Dance Step and trainer-driver Greg Manning got away last from an outside Post 5 start in the $2,100 feature over a track rated 'good' and one second off, but worked their way to the top passing pacesetter Kg Dna (Michel Rey) in the stretch. The odds-on favourite reached the wire in 2:03.2, holding off the pocket-sitting Parker Hall (Philip Giesbrecht) by three-quarters of a length. Kg Dna finished two lengths back in third.

The gelded son of Real Desire-Lite On Her Feet has won two races in nine starts this year earning $4,879 for owners Donald Ransom of Boissevain and Keith Earle, Bill Lowrie and Bob Stremich of Winnipeg, MB.

A pair of freshmen pacers bred by Darryl and Sherri Mason each put forth track record setting performances on Saturday as they broke their maidens.

My Friend Don (Firm Friend-Tomorrow Pride) converted from the pocket to win his first race by two and a half lengths in 2:06.4, erasing Clays Friend's 2:07.2 track record for two-year-old pacing colts in the process. Darryl Mason drove for his wife, trainer Sherri.

Kinda Special (Payday Hanover-Aiwa) went wire-to-wire to win her second race in 2:07.3 by six and three-quarter lengths for driver Philip Giesbrecht and trainer Robert Ross. The time of the mile lowered the track record for two-year-old filly pacers by two-fifths of a second, which was previously held by Shes On The Fly.
