Three-year-old pacing fillies found themselves in the spotlight Thursday evening at Summerside Raceway, as the half-mile oval hosted another round of the Atlantic Sires Stakes.
A set of ‘A’ divisions worth $12,680 were the main events, with a trio of $2,500 ‘B’ divisions as part of the undercard.
Three Pink Bows, who was perfect in her first four starts of the season, pushed her winning streak to five-in-a-row thanks to her 1:58.3 decision in the first ‘A’ division. Danny Romo rolled her to the front and cut fractions of :29.4, 1:00.1 and 1:29.2 before using a :29.1 closing quarter to win by a neck over Elm Grove Joanette in 1:58.3. Third prize went to Thebigbamtheory.
Doug Rankin trains the daughter of Ameripan Gigolo-Keltic Sarah for Tanya Tremblett of Sydney Mines and Stevi Jardine of Georges River, NS. It was the 10th lifetime score for the career winner of $39,233. She paid $2.70.
Jann Down was a popular winner in her $12,680 assignment for the tandem of driver Gilles Barrieau and trainer Steve Mason. Barrieau hustled his charge to the lead and together they supplied the field with fractions of :29.2, 1:00.4 and 1:31 before sprinting home in :28.3 to win by one-quarter of a length over Woodmere Articblue in 1:59.3. Taking home third money was Miss Oromocto.
The daughter of Articulator-Khadiva Hanover improved her 2015 record to 4-0-1 from six starts with the win. The homebred, who is an 11-time winner to date, is owned by Downey Stables of Quispamsis, NB. The career winner of $70,688 paid $3.10 to her backers.
As for the $2,500 ‘B’ divisions of the ATSS, the winners were Blue And Gold (2:01.1), Tobins Lady (2:00.1) and Thisgirlcanhunt (2:00.4).
