With Federal Flex in to contest the Stanley Dancer Memorial Friday, July 17 at the Meadowlands Racetrack, the colt's co-owning driver, Jody Jamieson, is naturally
champing on the bit to get back to the track and on the trail of trotting's holy grail, the $1.5 million Hambletonian.
Federal Flex will contest the second of two Dancer divisions.
Trained by co-owner Jeff Gillis, the Muscles Yankee colt has drawn the outer Post 9 and will looking to rebound from a recent win in the Goodtimes Stakes at Mohawk Racetrack. Even though the Hambo hopeful reigned supreme in the $333,200 event, Jamieson was not pleased with his charge's performance.
The Brantford Expositor recently caught up with Jamieson, and an article today cites the O'Brien Award winning driver as saying that he recently went a solid schooler with the star colt and everything seems in order.
The article states that, according to Jamieson, if Federal Flex comes out of the Dancer in good order, the colt will then go on to contest the Hambletonian's eliminations, scheduled for August 1. The rich final will be contested August 8.
"You might only get one shot at being less than 10-1 in the Hambo and the Hambo is huge," Jamieson said.
"The Hambo is the biggest race in the world and we have a contender. There's no question about that."
