As the 2026 Canadian harness racing season reaches the halfway mark, Trot Insider takes a look at the drivers and trainers leading the way.

James MacDonald, five-time Driver of the Year, remains the leading money-winning driver through the first six months of the year in Canada, topping the $4 million mark in purse earnings ($4,119,771) while bolstered by his recent victory in $1 million North America Cup. Doug McNair ($2,650,661) and Louis-Philippe Roy ($2,490,926) round out the top three, with Travis Cullen ($2,139,552) the only other driver to surpass the $2 million threshold by mid-year.

Canada's defending dash-winning driver Austin Sorrie ranks No. 1 again with 201 victories so far in 2026. Brady Galliers has burst onto the Canadian racing scene this year winning 181 races so far while Samuel Fillion sits third in the standings with 173 winning drives, with James MacDonald just three behind.

Marc Campbell tops the standings for UDRS at 0.438 followed by Gilles Barrieau in second at 0.396 and Doug McNair and Mike Hennessy tied for third at 0.352.

Jodie Cullen, Canada's leading trainer over the last two years, continues to hold the top spot in the standings with 146 wins and stable earnings of $1,947,853. Two other trainers have surpassed the million-dollar mark in seasonal earnings, David Menary ($1,690,635) and Kyle Fellows ($1,612,504).

Jodie Cullen is the only trainer to top 100 wins so far on the season, with Gerard Demers poised to cross that threshold next as he already has 95 winners to his credit. Kyle Fellows round out the top three with 89 wins.

Rebecca Kanak sports a nation-leading UTRS of 0.419 with David Menary second at 0.394 and Melissa Loyer third at 0.346.
