Multiple reports indicate that an early morning fire that engulfed the remains of Windsor Raceway has been left to burn under supervision.
According to CBC Windsor, the fire was first reported to authorities around 4:42 a.m. with five service vehicles dispatched.
"The whole roof line of the structure was going ... but we could not get close enough," Windsor District Fire Chief Kenneth Hunt told CBC. "The state of the building, in terms of [the] demolition [that's ongoing], it was a dangerous situation to put manpower in ... to fight the fire."
No damage to the onsite construction equipment was reported, and no one was injured in the blaze. The fire will continue to smolder until Thursday, while investigators continue to determine the cause.
