It has been reported that demolition at the defunct Windsor Raceway is ongoing, and that the main grandstand building, which also housed a restaurant, slot machines and mutuel locations, could be the next building to be torn down.

Windsor Raceway closed its doors in late August of 2012, four months after the cancellations of the Slots at Racetracks program. An article by the CBC states that demolition crews tore down paddocks and stables this past weekend and that the former racetrack has applied for demolition of the grandstand.

The CBC has cited the city as saying that it could take anywhere from 10 days to six weeks to grant a permit for the grandstand demolition.

The report states that the CBC reached out to Winrac Development President Pat Soulliere for comment, but he declined.

I guess now that the fantasy has ended............. you know, the one where Winrac sells the joint to folks who actually cared about racing, or who would TRY to race . Maybe someone could please authorize the forensic audit of Winracs' books to the pre-SARP days ( as has been requested numerous times by TimeBomb )?? The taxpayers of Ontario deserve to know. As do the poor schlubs who used to own/train horses in Essex County
