An army of fillies marched into battle at Dresden Raceway on Sunday afternoon, as Little Saratoga played host to 10 divisions of the OSS Grassroots
for three-year-old pacers.
The fleetest filly of the day was the Rich Griffiths-trained Richlyn Tessa, who toured the half-mile oval in 1:57.3. Alfie Carroll mapped out the winning trip for the Camotion-Life On The Edge miss, who drew away to win by a 4-3/4 length margin over Lyons Anitacol. Eyewitness Account was third.
The homebred is owned by Griffiths and David Howard of London, ON. She has put together a 3-1-0 record in her first four starts, and she has banked close to $20,000 along the way.
Jael Seelster was a wire-to-wire winner in 1:58 for the tandem of driver Trevor Henry and trainer Paul Taylor. The Camluck-June Laag miss threw down splits of :28.4, :57.4 and 1:27.2 before stepping home in :30.3 en route to the half-length score over Lucky Jeans. Third prize went to Lysanne Baby.
Richard Villeneuve of Val Caron, ON holds the papers on the filly who is 3-for-7 this season after going 0-for-7 as a rookie. She has earned just shy of $30,000 in her career.
Trainer Rod Duford also scored with a daughter of Camluck thanks to Addison Bay’s 1:58.3 triumph. Out of the Matts Scooter mare Mattersalls, Addison Bay rallied to win by a half-length over Holly Berry. Casimir Japa grabbed the show dough in the $24,000 tilt.
Owned and bred by Larry Pollard of Harrow, ON, the filly won for the second time this season and for the fourth time in her career. She has managed to stash away $35,800 in just 12 starts.
