The Atlantic Sires Stakes rolled into Truro Raceway on Sunday, with three-year-old filly pacers in action
.
The evening card of racing featured three “A” divisions of the pacing fillies each going for a purse pool of $7,420 and two “B” divisions going for $2,500.
Seawind Allegra and driver Danny Romo won the first “A” event of the night in a time of 2:02.2 for owners Kevin Dorey of Lower Sackville, NS, and Gary Ross of Baddeck, NS. Coming home second was Western Swinger, with C H Yocoohno grabbing third prize.
Bettim Laura, with Jeff Lilley at the lines, won the second “A” division event of the night in a time of 2:04.1. It was the second Atlantic Sires Stakes win of the 2010 season for the three-year-old filly owned by Danny Purcell of Newport, NS. Scootingforsuccess was second and We B Success finished third.
The final “A” division event of the race card went to the last year’s Atlantic Breeders Crown champion Meridian Magic and driver Kenny Arsenault in a time of 2:01 for owners Barry Martin and James Gillis of Sydney, NS. Taking second place honours was Shesa Mint, with Elm Grove Ella rounding out the top three.
The two “B” events were won by Ammon Darcy with driver Harold LeBlanc, Jr. in the bike, and Howmacs Quicktempo and driver Mike Stevenson.
Atlantic Sires Stakes racing action now takes a short reprieve until July 1, when the three-year-old pacing colts & fillies meet at Fredericton Raceway.
