Lightning lit up the sky in central Ohio on Wednesday night and Camlit lit up the tote board at Scioto Downs in winning the feature
. The 4-year-old son of Cambest paid $106.20 to win.
Driver Chris Page confidently sent Camlit for the lead from post eight. He was parked to the opening quarter, but then grabbed the lead and never surrendered. Page gave him a second-quarter breather in 30 seconds and then it was impossible to catch him.
Camlit tripped the timer in 1:57.1 defeating U Betta Winna by 1-1/4 lengths with Big Town Event another half-length back in third. Favored Shackleton Hanover finished sixth.
The victorious pacer is trained by Jack Fisher and owned by Sandra Fisher of Circleville, Ohio.
Camlit had earned only $160 in four starts in 2010 coming into the race and had been beaten a total of 39-1/2 lengths in finishing eighth and ninth in his two previous Scioto starts.
