With a convincing front end performance Rose Run Quest put the finishing touches on a driving grand slam for the King of Island racing Saturday evening at Red Shores Racetrack and Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park.
Leaving hard from post 5 in the $2,900 preferred pace, Rose Run Quest set down on the front end and trainer Marc Campbell steered him to splits of :29, :59.3 and 1:28.4 without seeing any challengers. The son of If I Can Dream then closed out the mile in 1:57.3, over a track rated two seconds off, with the first-over Bugsy Maguire (Driven by Myles Heffernan, Sr.) finishing second with Burn Out Hanover (Gilles Barrieau) completing the Trifecta.
Blair Hansen of Charlottetown holds the ownership papers of Rose Run Quest.
Campbell started the night out with another win from his own stable as Howmac Magic toured the oval in 1:59.4, then Hysteria from the Michael Gallant stable have the Winsloe reinsman his second win in 1:57.4. Win number three was courtesy of Rash B Havior in 2:00.2 for Mike Peters of Emyvale in the International Night Pace.
Sodwana Bay scored her third straight victory as Jordies Hope had her streak snapped at two wins to finish second in the $2,750 Fillies & Mares Open pace. Sodwana Bay stopped the clock in 2:00 for trainer-driver Barrieau while Jordies Hope (Corey MacPherson) was second and Collective Wisdom (Ron Matheson) finished third.
Wayne MacRae and Howmac Farms Ltd own Sodwana Bay.
Give Em Heck, trained by Jackie Matheson, captured the Drive for Home Series final leg presented by Hillside Chevrolet Buick GMC Cadillac. Barrieau was in the bike for owner Colin Sheppard, Spaniards, Bay, Newfoundland & Labrador.
