It goes without saying that Somebeachsomewhere was a once in a lifetime horse for his connections, including trainer Brent MacGrath. Can lightning be
striking twice?
According to MacGrath, in this case, the answer is 'no.'
MacGrath's comments come in an article by the Truro Daily News regarding the most recent recruit into his operation: the two-year-old Bettors Delight colt Weigh The Odds.
The trainer responded quickly when queried of the likelihood that the bay could pace in the same hoofprints as the great Somebeachsomewhere.
"No," MacGrath said while brushing Weigh The Odds at Truro Raceway. "When you think of the chances of that happening again the numbers are staggering. So to think it's going to happen again is a bit much."
MacGrath explained in the article that he is looking to race Weigh The Odds in Ontario, as he is eligible to the Champlain, Nassagaweya and Simcoe Stakes, as well as the Governors Cup, Metro Pace and Dream Maker Pacing Series.
"We just got him to have some fun and maybe get a little back on our investment," MacGrath said. "We're just hoping he turns into a nice horse. That's all we want."
