Three $20,000 Delaware Standardbred Breeders Fund divisions for pacing colts were contested Sunday at Harrington Raceway.

Defending Dover Downs champ, Cavalli Pazzi Stable’s Casino Bags Carlo ($2.10, Vince Copeland), returned to winning form with an easy victory over Lewiebyalength and Motorino. Leaving from his rail post position for trainer/driver Copeland, the Roddys Bags Again gelding was a dominant, pacesetting winner for his ninth career win in 15 lifetime starts. He was a runner-up in his division last week.

Meanwhile, the horse that beat Casino Bags Carlo in round one was Karen Walls’ Elite Awards ($2.10, George Dennis), who completed a sweep of his eliminations with a 1:54.1 victory in the third division. Trained by David Rearic, the Powerful Toy gelding assumed command near the half-mile and never relented in his three-length win over Bobbies Powerplay and Forced Passage. Elite Awards recorded his 12th career win.

Virginia Louthan’s Go Big Spinder ($5.80, Jon Roberts) continued his consistent form spree and prevailed in his split with a 1:55 score over West Star Director and By A Noggin. The No Spin Zone-sired colt sat in the pocket throughout and surged by pacesetter West Star Director for a one-length win. Go Big Spinder notched his fifth career win. He finished third in his elimination on June 15. It was one of three wins on the program for Roberts, who joined George Dennis with a driving triple.

The $100,000 DSBF finals for all divisions will be held on July 24, Governor’s Day during the Delaware State Fair with a special 7 p.m. post time.

Ten participants in the semi-annual Harness Horse Youth Foundation’s youth camp were on hand and joined in the winner’s circle presentation in the evening’s sixth race. Under the guidance of HHYF Executive Director Ellen Taylor, the participants are staying on-site at Harrington Raceway learning a comprehensive hands-on course on about harness racing in a five-day youth camp.
There is no live racing on Sunday June 29, as racing will be conducted on a Monday through Thursday schedule next week before the track goes on hiatus from its normal schedule until August 18.
