Ann concluded the parade of favoured fillies to grace the winner's circle during the second leg of the Ontario Sires Stakes Grassroots Series at Woodbine Mohawk Park after winning the fastest of three $20,000 divisions for the sophomore pacers.
Trained by Dr. Ian Moore, Ann won the final division of the night in 1:50 flat, leading wire to wire in rein to Bob McClure.
Powering to command from post eight, the 7-5 favourite put up panels of :26.2, :54.2 and 1:22.1 then kept How Much and This Magic Moment at bay with a :27.4 final frame to win by a length.
The Hes Watching-Addicted To Love filly was a Gold winner during her three-for-six freshman campaign last year and knocked three seconds off her lifetime mark in the first victory of her sophomore season for owners Wilma and James Mackenzie of Ennismore, Ont.
Also a Gold winner in her freshman campaign, Eric Nadeau trainee Resilience lowered her lifetime mark to 1:50.2 after retaking the lead on the backstretch and romping to 5-1/4-length victory as the 1-5 favourite in her division. Driver Louis-Philippe Roy co-owns the Jimmy Freight-Mia Seelster miss with Ecurie CSL and Ecurie Francis Richard Inc.
The other division went to first-time Grassroots winner We Meet Again (Shadow Play-Jet America) with Sylvain Filion putting the 3-5 favourite on the point after the opening quarter and prevailing by three-quarters of a length in 1:51.3 for trainer Murray Brethour and The Ok Corral.
The third leg of the Grassroots Series for three-year-old pacing fillies is scheduled for Aug. 2 at Mohawk.
