After winning the card opener at Rideau Carleton Raceway on Thursday evening (June 22), Robert Shepherd only needed one more win to notch career driving win 4,000 and he was able to do just that in the following race with Kinnder Motown.
Robert Shepherd left out of the gate with Kinnder Motown, but was parked to the quarter in :30.1 as Orlys Flight (Guy Gagnon) controlled the pylon real estate. Duende (Samuel Fillion) took over the lead while Kinnder Motown continued on the outside through the half in :59.3. By the three-quarters in 1:28, Shepherd and Kinnder Motown had control of the lead and continued forward en route to a four-length victory in 1:57.4. Duende finished second and Tattooman (Pascal Berube) was third.
Trained by Isabelle Darveau, Kinnder Motown collected his second win in three career starts. The three-year-old son of Muscle Mass is owned by Rejean Lemieux.
Raising Rusty (Stephane Pouliot) won the $10,000 Preferred Handicap Trot following a pocket trip through panels in :27.4, :57.1 and 1:26 en route to a 1:54.4 score by half a length. Gettin Serious (Guy Gagnon) finished second and favoured Black Tie Bash (Robert Shepherd) was third.
Owned by 9096 9205 Quebec Inc., the six-year-old gelded son of Kadabra has 23 career wins with $150,014 in lifetime earnings.
Mandy Archer collected three training wins on the card with Guy Gagnon driving Never Mind N, Sunshine Sally and Thinkingofyoubabe.
