Giesbrecht Out Of Western Regional

Trot Insider has learned that Alberta's Phil Giesbrecht has been forced to withdraw from Sunday's Western Regional Driving Championship at Century Downs Racetrack & Casino.

On Tuesday morning, the 27-year-old horseman was involved in a training accident and suffered a broken ankle as a result. While he doesn't require surgery, the recommendation is for no weight on the ankle for six weeks. Standardbred Canada wishes Giesbrecht a speedy and full recovery.

Driving in Giesbrecht's place this Sunday will be Gerry Hudon. He'll face fellow Alberta representatives Travis Cullen, Mike Hennessy and Dave Kelly, British Columbia reinsmen Brandon Campbell, Paul Davies and Jim Marino, and Manitoba's Don Howlett.

Sorry to hear of your accident. Take it easy and follow the Doctors orders for a fast recovery. Kind of messes up the best summer golf weather..lol
