Mark Haig continued to hold the hot hands in New Brunswick as he scored a pair of Saturday afternoon wins at Exhibition Park Raceway.
Haig scored gate-to-wire efforts in back-to-back races for trainer Mel Land with Joeys Sidekix (2:04.2) and Lanny (2:05.2). He now has 10 wins in just 27 drives this year and a fabulous .559 driving average.
In the day’s main event, Ramblinglily was making her 2014 debut and was involved in a placing after the judges ruled that her driver Allan Jones had caused interference to both J Rs Hurricane and Skippy.
It was originally ruled a dead-heat with Mike Downey's Stare Down but the four-year-old mare was placed back to fourth for the interference. For Stare Down, it was his first win on New Brunswick soil for the father-son duo of Dr. Mitchell and Mike Downey.
The next live card of racing in New Brunswick will be held on July 1 at Fredericton Raceway as Horse Racing New Brunswick hosts the traditional holiday program.
