Van Camp Brothers In Mohawk Spotlight

It was a good start to the week of harness racing for brothers Paul and Robert Van Camp as they were both part of winning ownership groups on Monday night's card at Mohawk Racetrack.

Hambletonian eligible Big Rich ($3.50) scored a 1:56 maiden-breaking victory in the evening's second race, closing off stalled cover in a :28.3 final quarter. Paul Van Camp purchased the Donato Hanover-Kidman Hall colt for $42,000 as a yearling at the Lexington Selected Sale with partners Doug Millard, Howard Taylor and Ben Mudry. Last year, the Brad Maxwell trainee banked over $50,000 despite going winless during his stakes-filled freshman campaign.

Later on the card, Robert Van Camp's homebred four-year-old trotter Windsun Revenge ($18.20) stormed home in :28.1 from third over to take a new lifetime mark of 1:53.3 in his $24,000 conditioned assignment. Jeff Durham trains and co-owns the Kadabra-Oaklea Polly gelding, who was named for the hit television show Revenge that concluded just last month and starred Robert's daughter Emily.

Both Big Rich and Windsun Revenge were driven by Randy Waples, who tied Sylvain Filion for most wins on the 10-race card, ending the night with three each.
