The World Driving Championship wrapped up this afternoon in Vincennes, with Pierre Vercruysse of France, Björn Goop of Sweden and Eirik Hoitomt of Norway standing atop the podium.
The 20 race, five-day competition took the 12 international rivals across the country in search of the WDC title, with Verycrusse scoring a victory for the local fans.
For Arthur, Ont,'s Trevor Henry, who represented Canada in the 2013 WDC, the result of the event was a disappointment. Henry, whose horses in many cases entered races off of multiple breaks in stride, fought bravely through the week, but never managed to find the winner's circle.
"It was a tough week," said Henry. "I just never had the horsepower to compete. I drove a lot of horses that don't stay flat and the couple of decent ones I had, I couldn't quite finish with them.
"This is a great competition and we're really thankful to everyone who made it possible for us to be here this week. I'm very appreciative of everyone back home who was cheering for me."
While Henry enjoyed his time in France, he'll be happy to arrive back in Toronto on Sunday.
"I'm ready to go home," he said. "It will also be nice to get back to the racetrack and win a few. From that perspective, this has been a tough week."
Today's race, the 20th and final of the event, was won by Italy's Enrico Bellei. Vercruysse was second, with New Zealand's David Butcher third.

Hold your head up trevor. Win or lose you represented Canada well and with class. At the end of the day a driver can only do so much. Ultmately it's the horse that does the running not the driver. To quote an overused cliche, you can only play the hand you're dealt. Good job.
