Three-year-old trotters took center stage at the Meadowlands on Thursday evening as the New Jersey oval played host to the first round of the Windylane Hanover Series for fillies and the Mr Muscleman Series for colts and geldings

Boinga pulled off an 8-1 upset in the lone $18,000 division of the Windylane Hanover Series, and the connections of the filly have Dave Miller to thank in large part for the win. He stole easy fractions of :28.2, :58.3 and 1:28.2 with the daughter of Windsongs Legacy-Melody Of Love before sprinting home in :27.4 for the 1:56.1 decision. It was two lengths back to runner-up Yansky, and another length to Special Appeal who was third.

Brian Roland conditions the youngster for the partnership of Anthony and Carol Risi of Christiana, PA and Bernard O’Brien of Lecanto, FL. The victory was the first of the season and the second lifetime tally for Boingo, who surpassed $60,000 in lifetime earnings in the process.

Just a single $18,000 division of the Mr Muscleman Series went postward during Thursday’s opening leg, and it was R Sam who came out on top for catch-driver Brian Sears. The Anthony Salerno-trained son of Revenue S-Our Samantha Rose stalked cover around the final turn before drawing away to win by a little more than a length over Tough Challenger in 1:56.1. Jailhouse Scorpion rounded out the top three.

Stefan Dorosz of Perksdale, PA holds the papers on the homebred colt, who was unraced as a rookie. His latest victory bumped his 2010 record to 5-2-0 in seven tries. The $9,000 payday boosted his earnings to $32,000
